Portlaoise AFC 1 Willow Park 2 (Agg 3-4)
Portlaoise bowed out of cup in a game which they should have been out of sight before they pressed the self destruct button.
A first half that can only be described as forgettable with neither team able to string 2 passes together and neither keeper having to produce a save. Eoin O’Connor and Jonathan Rafter being they only 2 who stood out.
Portlaoise came out a different side in the second half and took complete control. It only took until the 51st minute when after good work by Liam Fraser, he played a quick ball to Rafter who finished superbly to top corner. Minutes later and Rafter was at it again only for the post to deny him. Portlaoise missed 2 or3 more chances to put this game out of sight.
Game turned on the dismissal of a Portlaoise player in the 68th Minute. Willow put Portlaoise on the back foot and scored twice in quick succession to end Portlaoise cup dreams.
A disappointing day for Portlaoise with O’Connor and Rafter standing heads above the rest on the field.
